Pademelon grew out of a decade running IT and operations for a multi-venue retail group on in Melbourne.
That work — building the systems behind a real business, not just designing for one — is the soul of what we do now. We started shipping software for other operators in 2024, and Pademelon Software became its own studio in 2026.
The name has a longer story. Back in 2016, our founder Will and his partner Anna — then working at a wildlife sanctuary in Tasmania — took in an orphaned pademelon joey whose mother had been hit on the road. They raised him at home. He spent most of that first year tucked into a cosy bag at Will's side, quietly along for the ride while Will was teaching himself to write his first real software.
Pademelons are small, easy to miss, and steady company once you've earned their trust. That's about right for the kind of software we want to build — and the kind of studio we want to be.
